Operations Planning and Development

Operations planning and development is a critical component to the successful deployment and implementation of technology based security systems in austere environments. There are numerous factors that must be considered and planned for when integrating technology based security systems in hostile and environmentally challenging environments. CSMI leverages decades of field operations planning experience by selecting US Military field management specialists to plan and lead security technology deployment and sustainment efforts. This experience has allowed CSMI to plan and execute technology support operations in Southwest Asia, Latin America and other locations around the world.

Operations planning and development begins with gaining a thorough understanding of the intent of our customer, understanding the capabilities of the technology that will be deployed, and the environment in which it must be supported. These aspects provide the basic parameters for plan development.

Pre-deployment sites surveys are extremely useful in planning for a successful deployment and sustainment operation. CSMI has substantial experience conducting surveys and assessments for the integration of security technologies in challenging high traffic environments that are under a heightened security posture. This experience allows us to accurately assess the local environment and develop key sustainment and performance factors such as; concept of operations, logistical supply and host nation customs clearance when applicable, communications and reporting requirements, operator training, life support for program personnel and customer interface. Operational planning and development includes the following considerations:

  • Numbers and types of systems to be deployed
  • End use customer points of contact, requirements and expectations
  • Ratio of FSR’s to systems
  • Environment where systems will be deployed and dispersion/accessibility
  • Administrative footprint and personnel life support requirements
  • Logistical options for the storage and movement of spare parts
  • Reporting requirements
  • Customer management and education on technology applications
  • System operator training requirements
  • Security considerations
  • Local in-country transportation
  • Access procedures for secure sites
  • US Military processing (CRC) for Iraq and Afghanistan programs
